PBMC Isolation in Global Clinical Trials

In clincial trials of new drugs and vaccines, the analysis of periphereal blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) is increasingly recognized as a valubale tool to get insights into the celluar immune response. "The collection of the drawn blood and its transport to an isolation lab is a logistical challenge that requires sophisticated procedures and diligent oversight", explains Elizabeth Watson, PBMC Team Lead at ABF Pharmaceutical Services. In the course of the EU Greendeal, maximum levels for perfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) in certain foods, are to be newly included in Regulation (EC) 1881/2006.
