Hamburg, June 26th: Thirty years ago today, on June 26th, 1989, the doctor and chemist Dr. Erich Döllefeld, MD-PhD, founded GBA Gesellschaft für Bioanalytik mbH. On May 18th, 2019, the kids club of the VDI (Association of German Engineers) visited our lab in Mönchengladbach, biomess. The group of 18 children ages 6 and up, got to experience an exciting day in the laboratory with the theme of “magnification.” They were allowed to pick one of a variety of samples (e.g. salt, sugar, paper, insects) and observe it under a stereo microscope. Then the same samples were observed using a scanning electron microscope at a much higher degree of magnification. At the end, the kids were able to take home a picture of their “own” sample.

From September 25th to September 26th the 6th European Forum on Extractables, Leachables, Medial Devices and Contact Materials Testing take place in Hamburg. The forum focuses on industry testing requirements for the identification and characterization of extractable, leachable (E&L), and non-intentionally added substances (NIAS) contaminants. Presentations from leaders in their field takes place over 2 days. On the 2nd day Dr. Heike Schmidt-Eisenlohr, expert for E&L studies at GBA Pharma Labs, presents a speech on ‘Extractable & Leachable Study with Integrity Testing & Toxicological Assessment’.
