World Wetlands Day 2022
Last week, on February 2nd we celebrated World Wetlands Day - Since 1971, the "Ramsar Convention" has been in place to protect the world's wetlands. It is one of the oldest international conventions on nature conservation and aims to raise awareness for the protection of wetlands.
Wetlands, marshes and swamps play an important role in nature. Not only are they home to endangered species of flora and fauna, but they also assist humans in climate change mitigation by capturing carbon. Unfortunately, about 74% of wetlands are currently considered endangered - Wetlands that still exist include the Wadden Sea and the Everglades in Florida, for example.
Regular environmental sampling is needed to assess the health of wetlands. GBA Group has many years of experience in environmental and water analysis.
