New investigation of in vitro skin and eye irritation test methods for live bacterial test items
ICCR’s study director Dr Christina Spohr and her team participated in a project to investigate in vitro skin and eye irritation test methods applied to live bacterial test items. The results were recently published in Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology and show that proper selection of available OECD test methods and relevant modifications of the test protocols can provide for valid in vitro studies of live microorganisms. In particular, the project addressed interference of the live lactic acid bacteria and their formulations with test method indicators and handling protocols.
