Pharmacelsus together with its cooperation partner KaLy-Cell (France), develop unique methodologies and assays for the analysis of drug safety, metabolism and clearance. At the online conference “Frontiers in Medicinal Chemistry” in Darmstadt (8 March 2021), they presented in house developed short-term and long-term cultures of human and animal hepatocytes in a sandwich (sw) configuration as a tool for investigating drug metabolism, clearance and identification of between species potential variabilities. Long-term sw cultures allow the monitoring of the metabolism of very low-clearance compounds, being also a helpful tool in the assessment of species differences of metabolic pathways.
