Soils and sediments are the basic foundation for numerous ecosystems. They provide habitats for plants, animals, and microorganisms and therefore play a vital role in this cycle of resources. Contamination from the industry and agriculture, such as fertilizer, pesticides, or heavy metals, pose a considerable threat to the ecosystem.

The building industry is among the most strongly growing and resource-intensive economic sectors in Germany. Sustainability and the protection of resources are also gaining more importance in this field as well. Therefore, the goal is to take the waste that is produced from demolition (e.g. rubble, wood waste) and roadmaking (asphalt), and to integrate it into a circular economy that saves resources.

Building contaminants include all chemical compounds or organisms inside buildings that pose a threat to human health or the environment. In addition to mold and conspicuous odors, an array of chemical compounds can be hidden away inside the building materials. These include contaminants that are known to be severely detrimental to human health or the environment.

The government regulates the quality of our drinking water. In Germany, the Drinking Water Ordinance § 15 par. 4 states that approved testing sites should undertake the monitoring process. The GBA has been taking samples from drinking water testing sites throughout Germany and has been analyzing them in accordance with the generally recognized technical rules.

Water provides the habitat for numerous ecosystems. Contamination from industry and agriculture jeopardizes not only the sensitive functionality of an individual ecosystem, but also all of the ecosystems that are interconnected with it. We analyze all of the established parameters for groundwater, surface water, leachate, and wastewater, as well as drinking water and process water.

For contaminated or suspected contaminated sites, as well as landfill monitoring, soil gas measurements are absolutely indispensable as a means of protecting the environment and human health. The measurement and sampling of soil gas varies greatly depending on the surroundings and it requires well-trained and experienced specialists. Our experienced and certified sample takers are not only able to draw upon the appropriate technology for measurement and sampling, but also IT- based data collection as well.

Ventilation and air conditioning systems (in short RLT systems) serve to exchange and circulate the air in operating and recreation rooms. After commissioning and at regular intervals of 2 - 3 years (depending on the type of system), operators are required to have hygiene inspections carried out by competent and independent third parties. The aim of these inspections is to determine the hygienic condition of an HVAC system for the health protection of persons.

In addition to fuels and refuse-derived fuels, our accredited laboratories also analyze residual materials from waste incineration plants, process waters, as well as intermediate products and final products of industrial facilities. For this, the GBA Group draws upon a wide range of accredited methods, an array of high-tech devices, and numerous methods that have been developed in-house.

In addition to the traditional matrices in the environmental field (soil, water, and air), we also provide analyses of biota samples, material samples and plastic samples and compost and fermentation products.
