Molds are everywhere, they belong to the essential microorganisms of our planet. They make an important contribution to the functioning of our ecosystem. However, there is of course the other side to molds: They pose a problem for humans and animals not only due to the role they play in food spoilage, but also when they appear in the form of black stains, dark patches on walls, or musty smells in rooms. In interiors, they are not only structural defects in the form of an active infestation, they are also a danger to humans in some cases. The spores that are carried through the air represent a potential health hazard.

ANALYTIKUM Umweltlabor GmbH celebrated its 25th anniversary this July! A reason to celebrate and to look to the past and the future.

The "cradle" of the company was in the Merseburg Innovation and Technology Center ("mitz"), close to the university. Mr. Reiner Ramonat and Mrs. Birgit Zimmermann are the founders and managing directors of the company. The company started in 1995 with 4 employees and a lot of optimism. 2 washing bowls were the first dishwasher and sampling (also ground water!) was of course part of the laboratory work.

ANALYTIKUM quickly developed into a regionally recognized environmental analytical service provider.

PFT are used in many products and industrial areas, such as lubricants, paints, textiles or coatings, due to their simultaneously grease-repellent and water-repellent properties. They can already be released into the environment during their manufacture or during the production of products containing PFT. As PFT do not occur naturally in nature, they are difficult to degrade and are suspected of causing cancer.

PFT remain in the environment for a very long time and are spread via rivers and seas. A high concentration in water poses a danger for the drinking water supply. In order to guarantee a harmless drinking water quality a regular control is inevitable.

Our environmental laboratory in Berlin is now accredited according to DIN EN ISO 17025:2018! The team in Berlin has built up and established the laboratory for environmental analysis during the last year and has successfully passed several audits in 2020. It is now fully operational.

From September 2020, the Thüringer Umweltinstitut is offering a position for the Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ) in Krauthausen, Thuringia. The FÖJ gives an insight into the everyday work of a "laboratory assistant in the environmental field".

For many years, the Thüringer Umweltinstitut, a subsidiary of the GBA Group, is a place of employment for the FÖJ / Thuringia Year.
